"Apartment Studies" - a real encyclopedia of Russian families
Having found out how and how families live in Russia among children, IKEA and Grigory Oster present the book “Apartment Studies. Types of families and their environment ”- a real encyclopedia, which brought together ten of the most unusual and unique family stories
Since June 2014 on the project website kvartirovedenie.ru not only can you download a new book, but also discover a whole virtual world in which the heroes of "Apartment Studies" live.
At the first stage of the “Apartment Studies” project, which started in March 2014, IKEA and the writer Grigory Oster found out from children how and how families live in Russia. The most amazing and unusual children's stories collected during the “unscientific” study came to life in Oster's stories: based on real facts, he created a kind of classification of families, and IKEA designers offered each family a unique interior that reflects its characteristics, hobbies and lifestyle. For example, a family of three generations living together turned into the Nesoschityaykins - with an endless table that can accommodate all relatives, a myriad of cutlery and family photos.
The book is available in two versions: paper and interactive, which can be viewed and even downloaded on the website. kvartirovedenie.ru. The paper version of the book is a colorful edition in which each of the 10 families is devoted not only to a poem in the usual and beloved style of Grigory Oster, but also a short story by the famous author. Detailed illustrations that can be viewed in a special magnifying glass, photos of real families in unusual interiors and an index with the solutions proposed by designers make the book interesting for both children and adults.
The digital version of "Apartment Studies" is a whole virtual world in which the Vampires, Holidays, Adults and seven other families live. All visitors to the site are waiting for:
- A quest game where you need to help knit a sweater, set the table, look for missing porcelain horses and solve many other important and important tasks facing the members of the families described in the book;
- Interiors - interesting and unusual solutions proposed by the best IKEA designers for each family, which can be considered in detail;
- Gallery of animated photos from a photo shoot of real families whose stories are included in the book: the characters literally “come to life” - all the images are made using the technique of cinemagraph;
- Interactive illustration created by Rod Hunt, a British illustrator who is famous for his attention to detail - exploring the virtual “Quartering” will be even more interesting!
Work on the project became an unusual experience for all participants in the process: “I wanted to create a book about how modern families work, and IKEA designers, moreover, still thought about how to create a space for each family in which it would be convenient to live. And for the first time I wrote a book in collaboration with children! ” - Shares the author of "Apartment Studies" writer Grigory Oster.
During the study, more than 500 children shared with Oster and IKEA fun details from the life of their family. During children's interviews in IKEA stores, another 1,000 unique inspirational stories were collected.
